Aurora Spa: Melbourne day spa review

Aurora Spa, St Kilda - Downtime & Daydreams Blog

Life is a busy, crazy, chaotic mesh of work, family, friends, commitments and chores – so to say a bit of downtime is important is the understatement of the century.

It shouldn’t have to be a luxury, then, to afford ourselves the time to relax and rejuvenate our bodies and minds – or to afford ourselves the best possible experience when we do.

Whether you’re looking for a Melbourne day spa for your weekend downtime, or a little luxury for your next visit to the city, Aurora Spa in St Kilda might just be the perfect spot.

Instant bliss

Its location is almost a paradox – stepping off bustling Fitzroy Street with its colourful characters, afternoon bar spots and St Kilda beach hustle, you walk through the darkened foyer of the Prince Hotel and up the steps to tranquility.

Walking through the misted door into the Aurora Spa reception is instantly calming, with the refreshing spa fragrances hinting at the luxurious way your worries will soon be massaged away.

The perfectly attentive staff know just how often to be present, and how to ease you into total relaxation from the moment you enter their world, making you feel welcome and appreciated.

Pampering perfection

The spa menu has an extensive range of treatments on offer, including their exclusive steam room treatments as well as services specifically for men, pregnancy, couples, and all the usual favourites of course.

For my two hour session I was treated to a Body Smoother treatment (scrub and moisturising treatment that beautifully nourishes the skin but also has a massage bi-product, perfect!) followed by an Active Botanical Facial, which included an exfoliation treatment masque and hand or foot massage (I can never go past a foot rub!).

I would LOVE to go back and try their even more luxurious signature treatments, including the Caviar Ultra Hydrating Facial, the Yoongoo Body Wrap and the Peppermint Bliss Spa Pedicure – could there be a more perfect downtime day??

Treatments start from $150 for a mani or pedi, and go up to $300 for some of the more intense sessions – but they do have packages to bring the per-treatment price down so you can get a bit more bliss for your budget.

Come slowly back to earth

One of the best things about a visit to Aurora Spa is their beautiful relaxation area, where your robed and slippered self will enjoy the downtime from your downtime – before, between and after your treatments you’re welcome to enjoy fresh herbal tea, soak up the dappled sun coming through the windows, and even order a healthy snack or cleansing juice.

It’s a relaxational oasis in the city, and the perfect place to step outside of your busy life to enjoy real, soul-cleansing downtime. Whether it’s a treat for yourself or a gift for someone you love, I would definitely recommend Aurora Spa, your skin and state of mind will thank you!
